Race Records

It has recently been brought to my attention that the "records" listed on this site are somewhat inaccurate. When I think about what I was showing, then this observation is correct.

The race in its current format began in 1970 starting at Straffan and finishing at Island Bridge. There was one exception to this which occurred in 1988, the Milennium year, where the race started at Castletown and finished at the Custom House in Dublin City centre.

Bearing this in mind I, have changed the way I display the records. I now only show the best times in each class since 1970 to date. I have also begun the process of seperating each class onto a separate page to make it easier to view the records for a particular class.

Where there are variations, as in 1988, I will include a note to that effect.

Another difficulty in preparing the lists arises from the variations in classes over the years. From time to time there were different mixes in certain classes. In addition classes were referred to under different titles. In order to produce the list I have grouped the various classes as shown below.

The various class titles used are shown on the left. The column in the right indicates a group. All classes with the same group number are aggregated to produce the records. The best time (1^st place) in each class for each year from 1970 are included.
